‘Selfie,’ ‘Hashtag’ Lead New Words in Merriam-Webster Dictionary
Actions speak louder than words, which, in this case, speaks volumes.
Merriam-Webster Collegiate Dictionary has announced it has added 150 new words to its 2014 edition.
If you haven't embraced the digital world, now may be the time to do so because many of the words are technology-based, including 'selfie,' 'catfish,' 'e-waste,' 'unfriend,' 'hashtag' and 'paywall.'
There are also some other words that you are probably already familiar with that Merriam-Webster has finally accepted, including 'turducken,' 'spoiler alert' and 'fangirl.'
