New Study Says These Texas Cities Could Give You Nightmares
(Mix 93-1) I didn’t realize this until I saw a new report, but I live in a state where several cities are causing a lot of nightmares. I can say it has been a long time since I have been awakened in the middle of the night by a horrible nightmare, and thankfully, I don't live in any of these Texas cities that are giving folks nightmares.

The Science Behind Our Scary Dreams
I rarely have nightmares, and I'm thankful for that, but there are Texans who have frequent nightmares, often about dying, or being horribly injured, or even taking a test. Some people have nightmares over spiders, the fear of drowning, even snakes, and other horrible things. According to the Mayo Clinic, nightmares are often triggered by stress or anxiety, some kind of trauma, medications, or even scary books and movies can cause nightmares in some people. Guess that could be why I'm not a big fan of scary movies!
How NapLab Ranked the Most Nightmare-Prone Cities
Thankfully, I don't have episodes where I have horrible nightmares, unlike some folks here in Texas. According to a new study by NapLab, Texas has three cities listed in their 'Top 15 Cities Most Likely To Give You Nightmares' list. The study took a look at fourteen factors that could contribute to nightmares and scored each city on a scale of 100, and Texas has three in the top fifteen.
Why Jefferson Might Deserve an Honorable Mention
I'm surprised that Jefferson, Texas, did not make the list because of all of the ghost sightings and encounters that are reported and documented at the Jefferson Hotel and other area bed and breakfasts. So, the study took a look at the number of ghost sightings, haunted houses, residents running on sleep deprivation, alien sightings, venomous snake species, and the number of cemeteries per 100,000 residents, among a few other factors, to formulate the list.

Three Texas Cities Make the Top 15
San Antonio, McAllen, and El Paso all made an appearance in the top fifteen. Thankfully, no East Texas city made it on the list. Bakersfield, CA, is apparently the city that is most likely to give you the most nightmares; it's number one on the list.
Let's hope you have a restful night tonight, especially if you're in San Antonio, McAllen, or El Paso.
