Remember the 'Armadillo Eggs' at Armadillo Willy's?
Remember the chili cheese dog from Weinerland?
Remember raising the flag at Pancho's Mexican Buffet?

Those are some great memories from restaurants that were once famous in Tyler, Longview, and across Texas.

For quite some time, those restaurants and many others were our favorite places to dine out with our family. Unfortunately, though, sometimes our favorite restaurants just don't survive for various reasons.

You feel devastated when your favorite East Texas restaurant disappears

Nearly anyone in Longview or Tyler will agree that we live in an 'eat out' kind of society. We have our favorites that we go to all the time, but those favorites don't always last.

We turned to social media to ask, "If you could bring back one defunct restaurant from the past and return it to its' glory days in East Texas, what would it be?"

The responses rolled in and they were some passionate responses too.

While I posed the question, I did not answer the question myself so I'll let you know the restaurant I miss the most was gone before I moved to Tyler, but I understand those of you and your passion when you say you miss Pancho's Mexican Buffet the most.

I remember going to a Pancho's near Six Flags Over Texas in Arlington when I was a teenager. My brother and I would fight over who was going to 'Raise The Flag'! I too sometimes wish I could raise that flag just one more time for more enchiladas!

Check out the other restaurants that East Texans are missing and wish would come back.

These restaurants once had their brand proudly displayed on a sign and building in East Texas and unfortunately no longer exist, but East Texans still crave their food and wish they were around.
