The Tyler Public Library has an alternative dating idea for you in advance of Valentine's Day. Sunday, Jan. 18 through Sunday, Feb. 19, you are invited to go on a blind date with a book.

“Last year, I unwrapped a book outside of my genre comfort zone and was surprised by how much I enjoyed it,” said Circulation Supervisor Ashley Taylor.  “I am looking forward to unwrapping another book this year.”

The idea is to step out of your comfort zone and read something you've not selected for yourself. Maybe you love romance novels, and you've never once given science fiction a try. You may find that you like it after all.

A variety of books all wrapped in paper will be available for your 'date' selection. Whether you loved it, or hated it, you'll then be invited to fill out a 'Rate Your Date' slip after the experience.

Those who fill out their slips, will be entered to win a drawing at then end of the program. So how many blind dates do can you manage in two weeks? Find out at the Tyler Public Library, located at 201 S. College Ave.
