Our Friends At The Tyler Public Library Is Celebrating FREEDOM With A Big Giveaway!

Hagrid and Hermione characters from Harry Potter will be joining the Longview Public Library to help celebrate Harry Potter week.

Let the kids know that this program is available to them and encourage them to get off those screens and get into a book or two this summer!

The Longview Public Library will be getting in on the fun with a special spring break drive-in movie night happening Thursday March 18th.

To Kill a Mockingbird and The Color Purple have been banned in some places, and this year add the Harry Potter series to the list. This is Banned Books Week, and Tyler is part of the push to keep those books available and accessible.

Reading these stories as an adult gives you a different perspective. It somehow closes a circle and becomes a more fully-realized experience.

Sometimes books like "The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn," "The Catcher in the Rye," and "To Kill a Mockingbird" are banned from curriculums and school libraries because of challenges made by parents or administrators. Those books and others are being celebrated this week in Tyler.
