Robert E. Lee Students Release Balloons In Memory Of Kayla Gomez-Orozco
It was a windy, cloudy afternoon on the football practice field at Robert E. Lee High School in Tyler where a few hundred students, staff and community members assembled to remember a very special little girl who has touched so many East Texans. Students of Robert E. Lee contacted school administrators to see if they could assemble after school this afternoon and honor the memory of a child that was taken from us way too early with a balloon release.
The assembly was approved and was scheduled for 4:20 after classes. Pink was Kayla's favorite color and there were several hundred pink balloons bobbing around in the wind on the practice field while students filed in to honor this little girls memory. It was a simple ceremony that lasted about ten minutes and with the count of one, two, three, all the balloons ascended to meet this little girl.
