Security Called to Protect Josh Hamilton’s Family Before Friday’s Game
Fox 4 in Dallas is reporting that Josh Hamilton's wife had to call security before Friday's game at Rangers Ballpark in Arlington. This was Hamilton's first appearance at the stadium wearing an Angels uniform and the first since he made comments toward Rangers fans claiming that Dallas is "not a baseball city."
Hamilton's wife claims she had to call security because Rangers fans were shouting obscenities and personal insults. Security guards stayed beside Hamilton's wife, Katie, and their children during the game. No incidents were reported.
The way Rangers fans are treating this whole situation bothers me. If you know me, you know that me and my family are HUGE Rangers fans. We make 10 to 15 games a year and Josh is one of my kid's heroes. It disappointed me that he made some of those comments toward Ranger fans when he left. I was also sad that he didn't want to stay and finish out his career in a Rangers uniform, but he had that choice. He did what he thought was best for him and his family. You can't blame a man for doing that, but I know many will say Josh is just greedy.
It's all right if you are mad at him. Boo him if you want, but don't make threats and personal insults toward him and his family. I would expect that from Yankees fans, but not Rangers fans. Many of you will disagree with me. A lot of people are furious with Josh, but let's take the high road and SHOW the rest of the league that we ARE true baseball fans -- fans with class and good sportsmanship.
