Take the Step Event set for Sept. 12 at Tyler Rose Garden
The Third Annual Take the Step Event presented by the East Texas Human Needs Network will take place from 10 am to 6 pm, tomorrow at the Tyler Rose Garden Center.
The event is free and intended to help those are seeking employment or a better opportunity. On-site agencies are there to offer guidance to attendees after a short personal interview.
Attendees are encouraged to spend a few hours exploring the agencies. Water and snacks will be provided. Take the Steps is not a job fair. The agencies are there to help overcome barriers that individuals face when seeking employment.
Some of those obstacles include financial concerns, emotional and physical obstacles, a lack of planning and career decision-making, or inadequate job-seeking knowledge, training or education.
“The ‘Take the Step’ event was developed by a network of organizations as a unique response to the employment needs assessed during ETHNN’s Comprehensive Community Needs Assessment,” said Christina Fulsom, ETHNN’s Founder and CEO. “When asked about their reasons for unemployment and what could make a difference for them, respondents shared that their top three reasons for unemployment were lack of skills or education, lack of transportation, and inability to find work. They listed their top three employment needs as career and job training, job search strategies, and information on career options. This event is designed to address these findings.”
Childcare will be provided for kids ages 2-12 free of charge.
