Texas Teacher Wanted For Choking, Abusing Kids At Daycare
Being a parent, coach, teacher, anything really that deals with kids can be tough. They will drive you to your depths, push you to the brink, and generally challenge your sanity. Sometimes you just have to walk away.
Well, someone should've told that to a YMCA teacher at Pflugerville ISD in Texas because what she did was abhorrent, unacceptable, and just flat out wrong.
Kids are going to act out, it doesn't matter the age. I have a 13 year old, a 10 year old, and a 2 year old. They all act out in different ways, and they also react to only certain types of interaction or punishment when it comes to their acting out.
However, none of those actions should include putting your hands on kids to punish them. Furthermore, if your hands are ending up on someone else's kid in a negative manner, then you've definitely gone too far over the line.
Being a youth baseball coach, you deal with all sorts of screwing around, bad attitudes, etc. Kid strikes out? They could go back in the dugout and throw a helmet. I'm not going to walk up to that kid and shove him against the dugout, not even my own.
This teacher at the Pflugerville YMCA felt she could pretty much do whatever she wanted. Multiple reports of choking children, forcibly grabbing their arms, etc.
One video incident actually showed her grab a girl around the neck and chest, then carry her to a napping area and lay her down face-down on a mat. Another video shows her grabbing a child around the neck and holding her hand there for six seconds while scolding the child.
The teacher, Geraline Wilson Browning, has been fired from her job at the YMCA/Pflugerville ISD. Along with that, the videos were turned over to police and there are currently five arrest warrants out for her at the moment. She was supposed to show up for an interview with authorities and did not show. She has also ignored repeated attempts by law enforcement to contact her.
