The Pacific Princess was known as "The Love Boat" thanks to the popular TV show that aired from 1977 to 1986.  But now the time has come to where the ship is being retired and has been sold to a Turkish demolition company for $3.3 million.

The ship which originally was owned by the Princess Cruise Lines, named the ship Pacific Princess, was built in 1971 and carried around 600 passengers.  The ship was sold by Princess in 2002 to Quail Cruises (a Spanish based cruise line), where they dropped the Princess from the name leaving the ship named Pacific.  The Pacific sat docked in Italy for a number of years and was seized last year by the Italian Coast Guard.  Now it looks like a TV icon will be headed to the scrap yard.

The TV show "The Love Boat" was a comedy/drama show that starred Gavin MacLeod as Captain Stubing along with Bernie Kopell, Fred Gandy, Ted Lange, Lauren Tewes, and Julie McCoy as the cruise director.
