The state insect of Texas is the Monarch Butterfly!

Monarch Butterfly the State Insect of Texas

Most people love the Monarch Butterfly because of their beautiful colors and the fact that they are so peaceful as they fly and float around.

Monarch Butterflies are known for their large size, in addition to their orange and black wings.

They are also known for their long annual migration where millions of butterflies will migrate from Canada and the northern United States to Texas and the southern states during the winter months.

The Monarch Butterfly was first introduced as the state insect of Texas in 1995 by a resolution of the state legislature.

The resolution was introduced by Arlene Wohlgemuth on behalf of students located within her district.
