If everything stays on schedule, by 2018, Toll 49 will extend into Lindale.

The extension, known also as the "Lindale Relief Route" will cost approximately  $126 million with construction set to begin July 1 according to the Tyler Morning Telegraph.

Once completed, Toll 49 with allow travel from Whitehouse to Lindale non-stop.

The new segment will be 6.7 miles from Interstate 20, north, to Highway 69.

The "Relief" part of "Lindale Relief Route" refers to allowing 18 wheeler traffic to bypass Lindale.

Having less of the 18 wheeler traffic also works in favor of Lindale's downtown revitalization project.

The Cannery project will bring a music venue, shopping and more to downtown Lindale.

“We are positive about it,” Susan Gill, president of Lindale Economic Development Corporation said. “The city is investing a lot of money in the downtown project to help (make this a) destination.”
