Angelica Gonzalez will be bringing awareness to a horrible disease this Friday (November 9). She'll run 100 miles for her son who has Type 1 Diabetes according to KLTV.

Gonzalez is constantly worried about her son, as she tells KLTV, "Even though he’s not with me, I worry about him 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Every morning when we wake up, I think about him. Is he awake? Did he survive the night?"

Normally we hear about Type 2 Diabetes which is caused by obesity and can usually be controlled by diet and exercise.

So what is Type 1? It is a form of diabetes that is genetic in nature and requires multiple insulin shots every day to control blood sugar levels.

Type 1, if left uncontrolled, can attack other parts of the body, too. It can cause blindness, it can lead to amputations, it can lead to a greater risk of heart disease and many more complications. And there is no cure.

I am a Type 1 Diabetic. I was diagnosed when I was 14 years old. I'll be the first to tell you it's a huge pain in the butt. But, I do my best to keep it where it needs to be. It's a daily struggle.

I applaud you Angelica Gonzalez for what you will do and good luck to your son as he continues his fight.
