There has been a tendency in years past to associate heart disease more with men. However, heart disease is both the leading cause of death in the United States for both men AND women. As a matter of fact, 1 out of 4 deaths are connected to heart disease.

February is American Heart Month. Begin the month by learning more about heart disease and the steps you can take to protect yourself and your loved ones. This Saturday, February 1, all are invited to the 'Women with Heart' event at Tyler's Broadway Square Mall from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

What's the event all about? It gives you the opportunity to delve into the most recent findings in regard to stroke prevention and the red flags to watch for that may indicate potential heart disease in women. Also, there will be a focus on general heart care and how to make the healthy choices that lead to the best possible outcomes.

You may also enjoy the fashion shows for both kids and adults, giveaways, high school cheer team performances, and health vendors, too.
