Texas doesn't have an abundance of teams that made bowl games this year, but we do have a few.  SMU is up first.

It's the most wonderful time of the year, and college bowl games are a big part of that.  Tis the season for fleece pants, fuzzy slippers, a cozy fire, spiked egg nog, and college football on TV!

Some years Texas sends six or eight teams to bowl games, but this year is a little leaner.  Texas is sending four schools to the college football postseason, and this is when to catch them.

Texas teams playing in bowl games:

Saturday, 12/21, BOCA RATON BOWL -- SMU vs. FLORIDA ATLANTIC, 2:30 on ABC

Friday, 12/27, TEXAS BOWL in HOUSTON -- TEXAS A&M vs. OKLAHOMA ST., 5:45 on ESPN

Tuesday, 12/31, ALAMO BOWL in SAN ANTONIO --  TEXAS vs. UTAH, 6:30 on ESPN

Wednesday, 1/1, SUGAR BOWL in NEW ORLEANS -- BAYLOR vs. GEORGIA, 7:45 on ESPN

Texas-hosted bowl games:

Friday, 12/20, FRISCO BOWL in FRISCO -- UTAH ST. vs. KENT ST., 6:30 on ESPN-2

Saturday, 12/28, COTTON BOWL in ARLINGTON -- PENN ST. vs. MEMPHIS, 11:00 AM on ESPN

Monday, 12/30, 1ST RESPONDER BOWL in DALLAS --  W. KENTUCKY vs. W. MICHIGAN, 11:30 AM on ESPN

Tuesday, 12/31, SUN BOWL in EL PASO -- ARIZONA ST. vs. FLORIDA ST. 1:00 on CBS

Saturday, 1/4, ARMED FORCES BOWL in FT. WORTH -- TULANE vs. SO. MISS., 10:30 AM on ESPN

Tickets are still available to most of the games, and that might make for a really fun road trip to wrap up the year.  Hit Houston for the Texas Bowl, and then head to the Dallas area for the Cotton Bowl and the 1st Responder Bowl, and take as many friends as you can with you in that RV of yours.  I'll be right there.

SMU and Baylor are two Texas teams that had surprisingly great years and made a lot of analysts eat their words.  They'll be fun to watch in bowl games.

Hopefully, all of our Texas teams can do well in the bowl games.  Aggies and Longhorns may never cheer for each other, but the rest of us can cheer for any team that's Texasy.  In our fleece pants and fuzzy slippers.  This will be fun.
