Plans for the new Academy Sports + Outdoors location in Mt. Pleasant were revealed on the Coming Soon Texas Facebook page. According to the post, permits for construction have been filed for the $5.9 million project. The 55,000+ square foot building, located on Ferguson Road, will cost approximately $5.9 million to complete.

Construction and Opening Timeline
Construction is expected to begin mid-April with a completion and opening date in early October. This is part of a multi-store expansion by the brand. In October 2025, Academy Sports + Outdoors opened a location in Palestine, joining stores in Tyler, Longview, Lufkin, and Texarkana. While the rumors circulated for years in Mt. Pleasant, they also seem to be swirling in Marshall, Texas, too.
