Furniture Store Files For Bankruptcy And Closing All Texas Stores
Throughout this year it has felt as if at least once a month there has been news about a major retailer or even a local East Texas retailer calling it quits. All Conn's Home Plus stores in Texas were closed recently, including those in Tyler, Longview, Lufkin and Texarkana.
It's not just retail that's being affected countless restaurants are feeling the squeeze as well and some are closing too.
The parent company of a furniture store chain that has locations in Tyler and Longview announced that they would be closing these two stores in addition to the other 326 stores they have nationwide.
American Freight furniture stores will be closing its doors
Franchise Group Inc. is closing this brand as part of Chapter 11 bankruptcy and is undergoing restructuring. The announcement was made last Friday (November 8th) according to Fox 7 Austin. American Freight sold affordable furniture for living rooms, bedrooms, mattresses, dining rooms, accessories, and outdoor patio space.
As new inventory continues to arrive, it along with the current inventory is now being sold with 'significant discounts' of up to 30% by Hilco Consumer-Retail. "Our goal is to deliver outstanding value to customers during this full chain closing sale," Hilco Consumer-Retail CEO Ian Fredericks said. "Everything is on sale and must be sold." (Fox 7 Austin)
If you need some new furniture, this may be the time for you to make that purchase. Keep this in mind though, all sales are usually final in this case and if something happens and you need warranty work, it could be a bit more difficult to have done.
American Freight isn't the only brand flying under the Franchise Group Inc. banner. They also own the following brands: Pet Supplies Plus, The Vitamin Shoppe, and Buddy's Home Furnishings, which also have locations in Tyler and Longview.
According to reports these companies are not affected and will operate normally. While it's a national chain going out of business, it's always upsetting to see happen because these are local jobs that are lost within our communities. Let's hope these employees find new jobs quickly.
