Former Longview Great Signs New Contract With 49ers
The Lobo Legend Is Considered To Be The Best Offensive Lineman In The NFL.
The most recent Super Bowl saw two East Texas high school legends battle it out for the title. While Whitehouse's Patrick Mahomes won his 3rd title, Longview's Trent Williams, who paved the way for San Francisco’s dramatic 34–31 win over the Detroit Lions in the NFC championship game made his first big game appearance.
The 36 Year Old, 11-time Pro Bowler now has a LOT of security from San Francisco.
The star left tackle agreed Tuesday to a restructured three-year, $82.66 million deal.
According to ESPN, the restructured deal includes $48 million at signing, a $25.69 million signing bonus and will pay him a league high ($27.65 million) for offensive linemen this season.
Williams said he initially sought to have the 49ers guarantee the remaining dollars on the six-year, $138.1 million deal he signed to stay in San Francisco in 2021. While he still had three years left on the deal he signed in 2021, that contract didn't include any more guaranteed money.
Williams Ends His 40 Day Hold Out From The Team Where He Was Fined $50,000 A Day.
Williams has openly discussed the potential for retirement, but he has also said he'd like to play until he's 40. In 2023, Williams ranked as the best pass-blocking tackle in the NFL with a 95.8% pass block win rate while only missing 2 games.
The Niners were WINLESS in the games he missed last season. Now it looks like he will end his hall of fame career with the Niners whenever he gets ready to.
