This past week the majority of East Texans were focusing on the forecast as memories of the winter storm from two years ago crept into their heads. Two years ago thousands of East Texans spent days without power or water trying to find ways to stay warm winter weather pounded East Texa with rain, freezing rain, sleet, and snow.

All week long while we were busy prepping for the first major Arctic blast of winter quite a few people were doing their own thing around town and ended up crossing paths with Gregg County law enforcement and ended up getting arrested.

One of the major offenses from last week's arrests was driving under the influence. Driving under the influence is one of the biggest issues that East Texas faces besides illegal drugs. This offense is 100% avoidable too. If you plan on going out for a drink or plan on having a couple at a buddy's house, know your limits and if you feel inebriated when it's time to leave, leave those keys on the counter and call a ride-share service to get you home safely.
