Thursday, November 21, was a big day for a comic book collector. The anonymous bidder took home an almost perfect copy of Marvel Comics #1 from 1939 for a mere $1.26 million. This particular comic is important not only for being the first issue ever of the now iconic Marvel Comics but introduced us for the first time to some well known characters. Those characters are The Human Torch, Sub Mariner, Ka-Zar and Angel.

This comic has a rating of 9.4 from CGC. A rating of 10 is in perfect condition. So this copy has been well preserved. According to nbcdfw.com, the comic was bought by a Pennsylvania mail carrier. The mail carrier liked to buy first editions of comics when they were released. It has since been passed to other owners before this sell.

Senior Vice President of Heritage Auctions Ed Jaster told NBC 5, "This is a historic copy of a historic comic book. Without question, this is the granddaddy of all Marvel Comics, without which we would not have the characters and stories we enjoy in today’s comics and feature films."

As a video game collector, I perused the Heritage Auctions website. The first page caught my eye with a near perfect copy of Batman: Return of the Joker for the original Nintendo. At the time of writing this article, the bid for it was at $2,100. This game is rare enough as it is, still going for around $50 without a box or manual.

Yeah, if I had that kinda cash to blow, it would be mine.
