Payless ShoeSource Store Closings To Affect East Texas Jobs
After Payless ShoeSource filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy (April 4), the company has announced which 400 stores will be closing immediately.
Payless ShoeSource operates more than 4,400 stores across the US and Puerto Rico and Texas appears to be losing 66 of those stores.
With several locations scattered throughout East Texas, the only location that was announced as closing in East Texas is the store in Jacksonville located in the Haberle Plaza on S. Jackson Street. The company has released a spreadsheet of all the stores they are closing along with a list of the closest store to continue shopping or a link to their online site.
This is another hit to a struggling brick and mortar retail sector. East Texas has been adversely affected lately with the closing of Macy's on S. Broadway, Wet Seal in Broadway Square Mall along with the announcement of Gordman's, RadioShack and Gander Mountain either filing for bankruptcy or closing stores too. It's a tough time for some of these retail giants.
