The First Time I Met Lucky Larry [PHOTO] — Throwback Thursday
I thought I remembered taking a photo of Lucky Larry, the one and only time I remember him venturing to my small hometown of White Oak, and last night I found it.
I was a sophomore in high school, and at the time we had an open campus during lunch so I managed to swing by the local grocery store where he and promotions director, Leah Gorman, were set up for a live broadcast.
They were handing out Mix 107.3 bumper stickers and key chains, and they were signing people up to win the jet ski in the photo. I was an avid listener, and had always wanted to meet the people on the radio. I was so excited that I snapped this photo.
It was taped to a glass window, next to the bumper sticker, in our journalism newsroom for the next three years while I was on staff.
I never thought that one day I would get to call him boss!
