The Syrup Festival In Henderson Tops This Weekends East Texas Events
It will be a sticky Saturday in Henderson, Texas thanks to the annual Heritage Syrup Festival. If you've never been, you're missing out on one of the largest festivals of the fall. Hundreds of vendors line the streets of downtown while hundreds of classic cars and trucks line the side streets and the sound of live music from the entertainment stage fills the downtown area and of course demonstrations on how syrup making was done in the 'old days'.
Plus, you will not want to miss out on all the festival food and sampling that happens thanks to the vendors. Just head to downtown Henderson, bring the umbrella to brush off the potential morning showers, and enjoy the day.
Here's a look at what's happening this weekend in East Texas.

Heritage Syrup Festival - Henderson
Saturday, November 9th
downtown Henderson - Henderson
More than 15 blocks of downtown Henderson will be covered with arts & crafts vendors, exhibitors, food booths, antique cars, musical entertainment, children's activities, and demonstrations as Henderson celebrates syrup!
The tradition of ribbon cane syrup making is commemorated at the Annual Heritage Syrup Festival, held on the second Saturday of November from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. The highlight of the only folk life festival in East Texas is the syrup-making demonstration on the Depot Museum grounds. Experienced syrup makers operate the museum’s antique mule-powered equipment to produce old-fashioned cane syrup.
While the syrup cooks, other folk artists demonstrate the techniques of lace making, rope making, basket making, blacksmithing, wood carving, quilting, and other old-time survival skills. Folk singers entertain, antique tractors whine, a petting zoo and local civic organizations offer a varied selection of food and beverages.
