Jen Austin

Hi! I grew up in a one-stoplight town in rural Nebraska and my whole family still lives there with three churches, a bar, and a courthouse. I left because I like lots of people and taller buildings, and I don't like cold weather. On those rare days in Texas when it gets snowy and icy, you'll find me inside Googling beach vacations. I don't plan to leave Texas now that I've been here for most of my adult life because the barbecue and fajitas are just way too addictive. I've worked in radio from the moment I graduated from college at the University of Nebraska, and besides getting the hang out with cool people like you every day, I love sports, great restaurants, self improvement, and meeting new people. I love all movies starring Melissa McCarthy or Julia Roberts, and all TV shows with home improvements or food in them. You'll probably hear me talk about my three daughters on the air, along with the challenges of being a single mom. I'm on several of the dating apps, because trying to meet someone in person these days is way too creepy.

Maybe you've thought nothing of it. Tis the season after all, and we expect to hear the Christmas music in our favorite stores. In fact, not hearing it would be an odd thing.

Some say hearing the Christmas songs can make us spend more money in that store. No way! But when we add up our receipts from the shopping season and realize how much we've spent, it would be kinda nice to blame our lack of control on something.

Mad Props To The Mail Man This Time of Year!

It's the most wonderful time of the year! Unless you deliver packages for a living.

Yes, all of our online shopping brings in big bucks for FedEx, UPS, DHL, and the US Postal Service. But the employees at those places are under a mountain of work, buried in packages, and it's hardly a season to be jolly. More likely, tis the season to have sore muscles, a headache, and feel run over by the delivery truck each day. FedEx says more than 19 million packages were shipped on Monday. Here they come.

How late has your mail been lately? Don't be mad at the carrier - he or she is drowning in letters, boxes, and catalogs, and after looking at all the addresses, we're lucky his or her vision still works well enough to find our houses.
