Matchbox Twenty is sitting high on life right now, because they have the #1 album on Billboard's album charts with their latest release North. The band hasn't had a number one album until now, their highest ranking on the charts was their last album Exile On Mainstream which was a best of collection that debuted at number three. The band is excited and celebrating with North sitting at number one, but not the way they celebrated while making the album though!

Matchbox Twenty is preparing to release their new album, North, on Sept. 4. This will be the band's first new album in 10 years. The band's lead singer told Billboard magazine that the band had "a no-fear rule" when it came time to creating the sound on the album. The album's first single, "She's So Mean," will be released to radio Monday and Mix 93-1 will be playing it, but in the meantime, you get to listen to a short clip of the song in the bands first webisode.

Rob continues to write for Matchbox Twenty until he discovers that perfect song, meanwhile he and the band are in the studio right now working on a new album. So far there's no release date on the project.
In the early days, Rob Thomas, Brian Yale and Paul Doucette were part of the band Tabitha's Secret before recruiting Adam Gaynor to form Matchbox Twenty back in the mid 90's in Orlando, FL. The band is currently in the studio working on their 5th studio album which should be available late this year or early next year. Matchbox Twenty has been nominated to win Grammy's, MTV VMAs and have won a People's Choice Award in addition to selling millions of albums.
