
Summer’s Almost Over! Here’s Our Weekend Top 10 in East Texas
This is it! Summer is just about over for most of East Texas (not weather-wise) so this weekend may be one of the last 'summer adventures' you can take before the school year begins. If you're looking for some ideas, here are 10 events we recommend giving a shot this weekend.

I have a ridiculous question. Do you like or beer or wine? A new spot in Lindale is celebrating its opening with a beer and wine tasting. Southern Ground Bottle Company will host a wine and beer tasting on Saturday between 2 and 4 pm. You'll be trying out selections from ETX Brewing Co. and Stella Bella Winery.

Hatch Chile Fest - Grand Prairie
Price: Free
On Saturday, we'll probably be able to smell this festival all the way out in East Texas. This festival ALWAYS sells out of fresh and roasted peppers and don't lie, we all love peppers here in Texas. There will be live music, food and more so come out early before everything sells out between 8 am and 2 pm.

Price: $5 adults/ $2 seniors/ $1 children
Gregg County Historical Museum is in the middle of its 'Field of Dreams' baseball exhibit that lasts until August 26, so this weekend is your last chance to admire iconic stadiums and memorabilia from the greatest players in the history of the sport.

You know there's bound to be a few Back-to-School events popping up around Tyler, and if you're late on getting supplies, this could get two things done at once! Broadway Square Mall is helping host the Back to School Fashion Bash. Be there on Saturday between 11 am and 1 pm in Center Court where there will be giveaways including makeovers and hairstyles. Fashion show is at Noon.

Texas State Railroad 5Piney Woods Excursion at Texas State Railroad - Rusk, Palestine
Last year there was a lot of talk about shutting down the Texas Railroad. Well, lucky for us it's still open which means we should be taking advantage of this amazing ride while we can. Why not take a trip through the Piney Woods of East Texas on railroad tracks? You can find the train schedule and reserve on the Texas Railroad website.

The Real Cowboy Association and Bad Boy Bull Tour will be bringing 30 bulls from the meanest and the best pens in the Southwest to Gladewater. You’ve probably seen a few on tv, like Grave Digger, Crime Boss, & The Widow Maker! Showtime is 8 pm on Saturday.

In case you didn't get the memo, it's currently East Texas Elvis Week and it will be capped this weekend. Sadly Saturday night's show is sold out but you can still catch the tribute show on Friday night at 7:30 pm
Every August there is a big memorial celebration held in Memphis, TN and we feel that there should be a remembrance ceremony everywhere and that's why we want to start doing this by first bringing it to the local people in the surrounding areas of East Texas that may not can make it all the way to Memphis!

Price: $20 for adults / $10 for children
At Sunset Cinema at Elmwood Gardens, you have a choice - you can take the kids out on Friday night to watch 'Sing' on Family Night or on Tuesday night, you and your special someone can go on 'Date Night'. They'll be showing 'Get a Job'. Oh, did I mention free vodka punch (limit 2 per person).

Ok, so this actually happens Monday but the eclipse does not occur very often, so make sure to get your protective glasses and capture the phenomenon at your favorite East Texas spot. Or, you can join the Tyler Public Library or The Discovery Science Center as they'll be holding viewing parties - the latter with snow cones to celebrate the end of summer.
